Trini Foundation Representative
Abbagail Holtz is a recovering addict who uses Ashtanga Yoga as a tool for relapse prevention. During her young adulthood, Abbagail fought a losing battle against bipolar disorder by self medicating with prescription pills and drinking every day to numb herself. Having overdosed twice, she quit fighting and began to crawl out of the deep trenches of her addiction and mental illness.
On August 12, 2015, Abbagail used drugs and alcohol for the last time. Over the next few months, through recovery and by finding strength in her practice and community, she also quit smoking and drinking. Abbagail became an official student of Todd Roderick (KPJAYI authorized teacher) at Ashtanga Yoga Atlanta in 2016. At AYA, she found a teacher to keep her accountable and maintain self growth and discovery through her practice. She now maintains her bipolar disorder and addiction with help from her doctors, a recovery therapist, and her Ashtanga practice.
Abbagail now has the opportunity to continue her journey while embracing a community she understands all too well. With so much joy and humility in her heart, Abbagail Holtz represents the TriniFoundation at Ashtanga Yoga Atlanta. By providing mentorship, free Ashtanga classes at approved recovery centers, and offering scholarships to recovering addicts, the TriniFoundation is helping to prevent relapse one step at a time.
Ashtanga Yoga helped connect Abbagail to God, where she found serenity, acceptance, courage, change, wisdom, and power. For more information on Abbagail, her donation only classes at AYA, and treatment centers she is currently working with please contact AYA at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to speak with Abbagail privately, please contact her at email@example.com
