Harmony Slater

Harmony Slater has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in the Mysore method for over a decade. She was first introduced to Yoga in 1995, and began practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 2000. She always had a keen interest in spirituality and the art of physical movement, which culminated in fifteen years of dance training and two BA degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies. 

In 2002, she traveled through China researching Buddhist meditation and in 2004 she made her first trip to Mysore, India. That same year she moved to South East Asia where she began a journey of teaching Yoga Internationally, which allowed her to spend long periods of time practicing with Sri K Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, now the KPJAYI. Harmony was given Authorization by Guruji in 2006, and was granted Certification by Paramaguru Sharath Jois in 2015. Over the years she co-founded two traditional Ashtanga Yoga Schools in Canada. The first was established in 2009, in Victoria BC, and the other is found in Calgary AB, where she currently teaches and resides.

These workshops are suitable for anyone interested in Ashtanga with motivation to learn. Harmony is skillful in providing explanations of elusive, often unspoken aspects of the practice. In weekend workshop’s, Harmony will offer clinic style classes that investigate specific aspects of the practice including yoga philosophy as well as physical alignment based knowledge which will help students come to new perspectives on how to practice more intelligently, safely and joyfully.

SATURDAY AUGUST 17:

9:30 - 11:00AM: Led Primary Series

11:30AM - 1:30PM: Exploring Second Series - An in-depth look at the back-bends, hip-openers and arm balances of second series.

3:00 - 5:00PM: Philosophy: Yoga - The Union of Opposites - Philosophy class about the metaphorical language used in India to describe a very real awakening process within our mind-body.

SUNDAY AUGUST 18:

9:00-11:00AM: Mysore

11:00AM - 12:30PM: Pranayama - Expanding our yoga practice into the 4th limb deepens concentration and improves health.

2:00 - 4:00PM: Where Do We Go From Here? - Philosophy & Meditation - how do we begin to enter the more esoteric Internal practices of yoga?

MONDAY AUGUST 19:

6:00 - 8:30AM: Mysore

6:00 - 8:00PM: Finding Tristhana off the mat - When we integrate the Tristhana into each area of our daily experience we cultivate a deeper connection to our true identity, and learn to practice yoga in every situation.

TUESDAY AUGUST 20:

Full payment is required to reserve your spot.  There will be a 20% administration fee on refunds for cancellations.  Return policy for workshops: No refund for workshops after August 1, 2019.
